True liberation even in the prison

Saturday, 17th Sept,2011, the Friends of Comboni Group, a lay organisation of collaborators of the Comboni Missionaries working in Ghana, paid a pastoral visit to the Female ward of the Medium Security Prisons in Nsawam. The delegation, led by their Spiritual Father, Rev. John Tasiame(MCCJ) presented food items and toiletries to the in-mates of the prison. The presentation was preceded by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. The priest, in his homily, reminded the prisoners that true liberation is not found outside the "fences" or inside; it is a matter of mental liberation and no matter where we find ouselves, we can be free and happy. This, according to him, is what Jesus meant when he said he has come to bring liberation to the captives(cf Lk 4, 18-19). The in-mates thanked the priest and the delegation for their kind gesture and encouraged them to continue with the good work as it is for Christ that they do it(cf Mt 25:35-36).
